Poems

A Poem

Page to page

Is a flip away

From a mistake

But a Poem that scrolls

Becomes a story

Told completely in your control

The phone is a reflection

As time passes on

No matter the struggles

Keep on keepin' on

Antiquated Lines

A cold day

A winter's night

A single flame

To defend the light

Welp... I guess it's come to this. I have to write a fucking book to make sure that this is recorded somewhere, hopefully for someone to read at some point in time to preserve what little humanity is left in todays world.

This isn't an epic story of a rise to power. It's just a record keeping task that needs to get done because things have just gotten so out of hand. Literally. Handwriting has become obsolete. Typing has become obsolete. Comprehensive human understanding has been washed away by information bias and "corrective actions."

The entire world has become inundated with information flowing between the physical world and the digital world that for many it's tough for them to tell the difference. Some cannot even do so as they have never lived in a world where what's real determines what is digitally recorded.

In a way it's amazing to see how symbiotic the world has become with its technological counterpart, but it's also very sad to see how the tides have turned.

Information changes at such a rapid rate that we have even lost our ability to agree what the current year is.

By my estimations it's right around the beginning of 2054.

Luckily I have grown up in the Midwest where the time of year is kept by mother nature.

We endure the cold winter at the beginning of the year. The shortest day and longest night marks the winter solstice. The leaves have all fallen off their trees, but the branches still remain. Binding them to the trunk with the roots dug deep into what I now see as a grave.

As the weather warms we enter into spring

Where life returns from the earth in a wash of blue and green

The water thaws

The flowers bloom

We are back to being able to walk outside

Without fear of the cold moon

The land is damp

The leaves carry morning dew

This was a time to rejoice

By having a beer with family

Or even a neighbor or two

…. Sorry about that… I am suffering from what can only be described as an unknown illness by my AIME.

My AIME, Artificial Intelligence Medical Experts, cannot identify what it is. I get lost in thought and start to only be able to speak in rhymes. They have done airborne tests, blood tests, imaging, you name it, they’ve done it.

The medical world has advanced so much so that what we used to know as “Doctors” is now an obsolete process.

AI, Artificial Intelligence, has taken over that entire sector as they can now predict health issues with a success rate of 99.8%. They have helped us to increase our life span by almost 30 years by guiding us on what specific diet to eat in order to reverse aging and combat disease.

What’s even more impressive is that they have even figured out a way to implant microchips into our brain to help with mental illnesses. They implemented what is called a MHaaS System, Mental Health as a Service.

This microchip is implanted at birth and helps to ensure that when the brain experiences any kind of unwanted stress or anxiety it can send a signal to the correct part of the brain to create the exact amount of neurotransmitters to combat that feeling and return the subject back to homeostasis.

This MHaaS System completely decimated the pharmaceutical companies that had a stranglehold on the world's medication as the Mental Health crisis was at an all time high back in 2021 after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of course those pharmaceutical companies are still necessary for antibiotics and any other type of medicine that is needed to counteract biological diseases, but their monopoly on that part of the world is a fraction of what it once was.

Just like phones turned into tablets; and wrist watches turned into health monitoring systems. Pills turned into MHaaS Systems. It was considered the wave of the future and, for a while, it helped humanity to return to a less combative state.

These MHaaS systems were bought up by all the big tech companies of the era and branched into their own sectors of what they would help to cure.

The first adopters of the new technology allowed the system to help manage the day-to-day tasks of answering the phone and sending text messages for them. The chip would be attached to the Wernicke’s area and Visual Cortex at first, allowing the system to transpond incoming messages for the user's understanding.

This increased work efficiencies and allowed for the majority of the white collar workforce to perform their jobs on their own time. It became a very symbiotic relationship and some users were able to cohesively perform their jobs tasks with little to no interruption in their daily lives.

The success of this new technology led to advancements into other areas of the brain and soon spread to the general public, again reinforcing the symbiotic relationship that developed between the physical and digital worlds.

All of this seemed great for a time, it seemed like things were looking up and people found their “group” that they most agreed with and became closer.

As the saying goes, “All good things come to an end.”

Rather than telling you how it all ended I’d like to go through a series of memoirs to talk about how it started and show you the progression it took.

I apologize if some details seem unclear as it is getting tougher for me in my old age to fight off the urge to just stop writing… This is a difficult thing for me to do as this world has had its impact on me as well. Sometimes positive… sometimes negative.

I hope my words will help to show that.
